What's mine is mine and what's yours is also mine...

I've become a clepto.
A very specific type of clepto.

You know how the stereotypical girlfriend loves to wear her boyfriend's t-shirts? You always see the long-legged amazon wearing his button down, making coffee and snuggling up next to him for nose kisses?
Well. Since I've been a live-in girlfriend for a little over a month now, I have developed a habit for wearing lkj's t-shirts, his soft cottony t-shirts that may or may not necessarily fit him anymore but that he keeps around on the off chance that he might wear them again?
At first, it was just innocent fun. Girls like to wear their boyfriend's shirts, it makes them feel small and cute and comfy all at the same time [which is pretty much awesome.] However, it has come to the point where I would prefer to wear his over mine. I am constantly finding new shirts to adopt, which has not gone without notice from their rightful owner. Take right this very instant for example: I'm wearing another one of his shirts, paired quite nicely with my own shorts [I don't think we can share those...] and I have no shame about it.

I don't think he really minds so much, aside from the fact that my casual wardrobe is steadily growing while his is deteriorating rapidly. But other than that I think he thinks it's kind of cute...Unless I just made that up.

More than just my new array of t-shirt choices, the living arrangement is going quite well so far. Part of this is undoubtedly due to the fact that I have been working 5 to 6 days a week, including lots of night shifts, which puts us on an opposite schedule half of the time. Like today for instance, I have to be at work at 5, which is the exact time that lkj leaves his own place of employment. Thus, I will not be here to greet him when he gets home. But, on the other hand, I'll be first cut, so I'll be home well before 4 a.m. and may get to see him a little later in the evening. All this to say that we are coming and going so much recently that we haven't had too much time to get on each other's nerves [although I'm sure that sometimes we still manage to find ways to do so.]

But I am certainly enjoying playing house :)
I'm easily won over by a free t-shirt.

Yours, truly

  1. Adam and I have lived together for the better part of four years and I still steal all of his shirts. At first i thought he might find it adorable, but i quickly realized that he really didn't care as long as i did all the laundry.

    hope you're having a happy co-habitation :)

  2. Cute. I do the same thing, for numerous reasons. If I didn't plan ahead and ended up at his house, I quickly make sure he knows I'll be borrowing a shirt for the next day. Also, I'm a sneakerhead, and he tends to have sooo many more awesome shirts that better match my shoes :D! Not fair!
